The services I use, and how I use them, are detailed below:

Google Analytics

What is it?

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Their privacy policy can be found here.

What does it collect?

Google analytics collects information about how you use my website. This includes how you came to my site (which links or search terms you used), how you interacted whilst on my site (which links and pages you visited and which forms you filled out) and how long you stayed.

The information that Google Analytics collects is anonymised, meaning that I cannot see email addresses, IP addresses or any other identifying data in my reports.

How do I use it?

I utilise Google Analytics to help me analyse and improve my site and it’s functionality for my users and clients.

I also use it to analyse and improve on the results of paid promotions I may run on online platforms such as Linked In, Facebook, Twitter and Google AdWords

The data I collect through Google Analytics is saved for 14 months. After that time the data is automatically deleted.

Trello

What is it?

Trello is an online project management and customer relationship management tool. It is owned by Atlassian. Their privacy policy can be found here, and their terms of service can be found here.

What does it collect?

Trello itself does not actively collect any of your data. However, I use it to input and store the data that I have collected on my clients, potential clients and projects.

This includes business names, personal names, contract information and agreements, billing addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, website addresses, links to social media profiles, notes on voluntary correspondence and notes on payment agreements.

How do I use it?

I use Trello to keep track of my projects, my work processes / tasks, my client details and potential client details.

I may also, at times use it when working on collaborative projects with other freelancers or industry professionals.

In cases such as this, all of my client and potential client data is stored in a separate password protected workspace that is never accessible to any of the people or parties that I am collaborating with. In these cases, any information I have on my clients that needs to be shared in order to complete specific contracted work, will only be shared with the people or parties that I am collaborating with after I receive specific written permission from the client or potential client involved.

The data I collect on Trello is saved indefinitely, or until a request is made of me to delete it.

Mailchimp

What is it?

MailChimp is a marketing automation platform and an email marketing service. Their privacy policy can be found here and their terms of service policy can be found here.

What does it collect?

If you choose to voluntarily subscribe to my newsletter, you are agreeing to have the following data collected and saved within the MailChimp service:

  • The Name you provide when subscribing.
  • The Email address you provide when subscribing.
  • How often you open emails that are sent by me using the service.
  • How often you click on links within the emails sent by me using the service.

How do I use it?

I utilise the data I collect at MailChimp for sending out targeted email newsletters to those users who have signed up voluntarily to receive news, tips and offers from me. I also use MailChimp to analyse the effectiveness of those newsletters and to automate processes such as the downloading of resources I may provide my users.

The data I collect through Mailchimp is saved indefinitely. When a user unsubscribes from my mailing list, the data they provided (Name and email address) is automatically removed from Mailchimp.

To help safeguard the privacy of my newsletter subscribers, I opt out of any use of my Mailchimp data being used in Mailchimp data science projects.

LinkedIn Insight Tag

What is it?

The LinkedIn Insight Tag is a lightweight JavaScript tag (or piece of code) that powers conversion tracking, retargeting, and web analytics for LinkedIn ad campaigns. It is provided by LinkedIn . Their privacy policy can be found here.

What does it collect?

When you visit my site, the LinkedIn Insight tag will ‘fire’ and record your visit to my site, and also place a cookie on your computer that associates that visit with you. Similar to Google Analytics, it collects information about how you use my website. This includes how you interacted whilst on my site (which links and pages you visited and which forms you filled out etc). It then associates this information with the LinkedIn profile you are logged in to, or later log in to.

How do I use it?

I use the LinkedIn Insight tag to help me create meaningful, targeted sponsored promotions and campaigns within the LinkedIn social media platform. The content of these campaigns could include links to blog posts that are about similar topics to ones you might have shown interest in previously, or a ‘reminder’ about a page that you have previously visited on my site.

I also use the tag and the reports it generates to analyse and improve these promotions and campaigns.

The data collected through the LinkedIn insight tag is saved for 90 days, after which time it is automatically deleted.
